- Have You Discovered the Leader Within ?
Regal Unlimited’s 12th year anniversary is just around the corner and it feels like the perfect time to reflect on our journey. Back in May, we took the opportunity to review our direction and revisit our vision and mission, reaffirming our commitment to leading and inspiring change. This reflection continues to guide us as we celebrate how far we’ve come and look ahead to the future. Vision: Transforming Leadership Globally Mission: We Partner with You to Achieve Bold Goals and Reimagine Your Reality Beneath these words lies something deeper–an invitation for each of us to explore where leadership shows up in our daily lives. Leadership can seem daunting, but it’s present in many subtle ways around us. It isn’t limited to formal titles or big gestures- it’s present in the decisions we make as parents guiding our children or as children standing up for what’s right, supporting a friend through tough times or making a difference in your community. Supporting a friend through tough times, offering a solution in a meeting, helping a colleague overcome a problem or learning from a failure are all moments where leadership unfolds. Leadership can’t be instilled overnight. It emerges through the patience we show, the empathy we extend and the wisdom we gain. Small actions and moments, where we choose to step up and embrace responsibility build the leader within us over time. These are the moments that shape us and slowly build the leader within us. After all, being a leader is not about being perfect, but about growth, learning and sometimes, failing. Leadership is all about Potential. At Regal Unlimited, we believe leadership potential exists in everyone. Bit by bit, with reflection and intention one can become the leaders they aspire to be. Take inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, who led through principles rather than formal titles. His leadership was defined by his deep commitment to justice and his ability to inspire the entire nation through his principles and actions. What’s key is cultivating the qualities and taking actions that allow us to lead and step into those shoes. We invite you to reflect on those everyday moments of leadership in your life, big or small, and understand how they fit into the bigger picture. Whether or not you see yourself as a leader, there’s always room to grow, reimagine your reality and achieve audacious goals. We’re here to support you on that journey and help you discover how leadership might already be a part of your life. - How ICF PCC Certification Can Boost Your Coaching Skills and Client Trust
Introduction: Why Coaching Credentials Matter Today, everybody calls themselves a coach, whether mentors, counsellors, therapists, or YouTubers. As the market becomes more crowded with these ‘coaches’, having a coaching credential can be the differentiating factor. Becoming a professional coach includes Training, mentoring, and certification by ICF-approved programme providers (Regal Unlimited) and Being members of and credentialed by ICF, the global gold standard in professional coaching. Professional Certified Coach (PCC ICF) is not the journey’s end but a pit-stop. The real journey starts after the credential. There are several coaching certification bodies globally, but no professional body has come close to what the International Coaching Federation (ICF) has achieved. Over the last three decades, ICF has perfected pureandclassicalcoaching . It has become the de facto coaching credential for those serious about coaching. There are three levels of ICF credentials- Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coaching (MCC). At Regal Unlimited, we compare the credentials with the education system- ACC- Under-Graduate PCC- Post-Graduate MCC- Doctorate At ACC, coaches become familiar with the process- the science of coaching. At PCC, the competencies come alive as we move into the realm of the art of coaching on a solid foundation of the science and process. At MCC, we aim to chase mastery in coaching by taking the coaching competencies beyond the coaching conversation. To achieve mastery in coaching, we must be comfortable being artists; that is where the ICF PCC certification comes into play. Enhanced Coaching Skills Through PCC Certification Rigorous Training and Mentorship To qualify for the Coaching Credentialing Exam, ACC coaches undergo 60 hours of training, 10 hours of mentoring, complete assignments, and 100 hours of practice. ICF PCC coaches undergo a cumulative 125 hours of training, an additional 10 hours of mentoring, and over 500 hours of coaching practice. At both levels, the asynchronous training includes reflection, assignments, and recordings of coaching conversations. – Bruce Lee Regal Unlimited equips our ACC coaches to coach at PCC levels based on ICF – PCC markers. Our PCC coaches are encouraged to explore mastery – at the confluence of the coaching skills, holistic marketing of coaching and deep work. Competency Development Regal Coach Certification for ICF-PCC is built on the ICF competency framework at the core. our coaching model (REGAL), and Some coaching tools (visualisation, metaphors, Perceptual Positioning, Regal@60, etc.). our exclusive assignments, which are not just for the sake of the asynchronous component of the programme but for deep learning. The competency framework consists of Setting Goals, leading to Deep Exploration, leading to Awareness and Actions built on a solid foundation of trust and governed by ethics. Embodying Coaching Mindset is at all levels of the process, which is the key to mastery at PCC and MCC levels. Since 2014 (ICF introduced CC 2 Emodying a coaching mindset years later!), a coaching mindset has been part of our coaching and mentoring frameworks. The process was non-linear and spiritual. This is perhaps the toughest competency to practice and demonstrate and most critical to coaching from a state of Being. At that consciousness, Listens Actively (ICF CC 6) at the fourth level, generative listening (Otto Scharmer) Presence is effortless (ICF CC 5) The conversation is in a state, dancing in the moment (a la ) This results in a new awareness of the surprise of the coachee and actions thereon. These frameworks are helpful when we mandate the learner coaches to “practice, practice, practice.” A corporate executive who hit CXO level in his early forties chose to return to campus (a global business school), discovered the true power of professional coaching as part of the programme and decided to become a professional coach in his next innings. While he started with the usual ‘I know it all, done it-seen it’, he discovered at the PCC leg, And we have been reminding ourselves about that since then! While the ACC journey focuses on learning to become a coach through the science and process, the coach discovers that all coaching is self-transformational at the PCC level. Boosting Client Trust with ICF PCC Certification Credibility and Professionalism Client Confidence in Results : An ICF PCC credential may make clients feel more confident in the coach’s ability to deliver meaningful results. The advanced training signifies that the coach is capable of facilitating profound change. Ethical Standards and Trust : ICF-certified coaches must follow a Code of Ethics, which ensures they maintain the highest standards of coaching practice by creating safe, trustworthy environments for the clients. How PCC Certification Differs from ACC and Benefits Beyond Deeper Skill Mastery : ACC level introduces the coach to the framework. Coaches move from unconscious incompetence to conscious incompetence and conscious competence. PCC enables the coach to move to unconscious competence, coach as an art on the strong foundation of the science and the process. The coach truly partners with the client to co-create the goals the client wants to achieve and go beyond towards their ‘full potential, personal and professional.’ Pathway to MCC : For coaches aiming to reach the Master Certified Coach (MCC) level, PCC is necessary to enhance their qualifications and experience. Impact on Business Growth Attracting High-Quality Clients : Clients looking for advanced coaching services are more likely to seek out PCC-certified coaches, and the certification can thus lead to increased business opportunities. Higher Rates and Packages : The credibility of the PCC credential allows coaches to justify higher rates and offer premium coaching packages. Global Recognition : A PCC from the ICF— a globally recognised body— can open doors to international clients and corporate coaching engagements. This enhanced reach can give global wings to your coaching practice. Personal Growth and Professional Satisfaction Lifelong Learning and Development : Once we become coaches, we sign up for a lifelong journey to learn and grow. It never stops. It is not about credentials or related topics we discover but deeper self-awareness. Sense of Achievement : With 125 hours of training, 500 hours of practice, mentoring, and all the asynchronous learning unique to Regal Unlimited, the PCC credential represents a significant accomplishment and can boost the coach’s confidence in their abilities. Why PCC certification with Regal Unlimited: Regal Coach Certification for PCC is ICF-approved ( Level 2 ) is full of rigour and depth. Successful professional coaches and MCC/PCC credentialed mentors facilitate the shift to unconscious competence. The synchronous (80% of training hours) and asynchronous (with all its depth and variety) training make it the best in its category. Destination , as pitstops: This journey is not a sprint to the ICF PCC credential but a marathon with multiple sprints in between. These are tracked and monitored for the best learning experience in adult learning philosophy. Company : Adult learning also means learning from the programme mentors, all the resources, the cohort and the alumni. The entire ecosystem contributes to our learning and growth. At Regal Unlimited, with our #CommunityFirst value, we nurture the learners during their PCC certification journey and beyond. Various initiatives, such as Regal Muse Art, where experts from diverse fields share their wisdom Regal Nest, reciprocal peer coaching, allows coaches to focus on “perfect practice, that makes perfect.” Regal Book Club – we cover one book every month together. Regal Coaching Consortium – coaching assignments for coaches Coaching Unlimited – for CCEUs and beyond. There are no such programmes. Leader As Coach (LAC), Building a Coaching Mindset (BCM) and Coaching Workshops for corporate leaders and executives. All the mentors for our programmes are our alumni. #CommunityFirst If you are not part of this community, you may be missing out! Conclusion: Why Pursue PCC Certification? A strong ‘why.’ Coaching is a calling. It is our calling to touch lives deeply, and coaching is one of the best options. To touch lives deeply, we have to vibrate at a higher consciousness. It is a big responsibility. PCC is a good way with its rigour and depth. Being a ‘professional’ coach also demands we maintain the profession’s highest standards, and subscribe to the ICF code of ethics. As Subash CV, MCC, Founder of Regal Unlimited, says: ‘As a coach, I am blessed to witness the transformational shift in my clients.”
- Being a Mindful Coach: Recognising Invisible Disabilities
Author: Sweta Kumari Being a Mindful Coach: Recognising Invisible Disabilities As coaches, we often engage in rituals that foster connection and understanding with our clients. One of these practices is being mindful and present, which empowers us to notice shifts and unspoken cues, including observing body language, emotions, and other subtle indicators. Noticing shifts in energy and discomfort has always helped me be fully aware of people’s needs. Additionally, these visual cues and my curious mind have led me to learn more about the situation and an individual’s environment and its impact on them. It is equally important to expand our awareness beyond our clients and recognise that individuals with invisible disabilities may be around us, requiring our understanding and support. A Personal Encounter One day after work, while waiting for my cab, I noticed a man struggling to cross the road. From a distance, he seemed fine, and others around him appeared oblivious to his difficulties. My cab got cancelled due to heavy traffic, which granted me time to approach him. I asked if he needed help, and he gratefully accepted. As we talked, I learned that he was colourblind and struggled to distinguish between the traffic signal colours—red, green, and yellow—making it difficult to cross the street safely. I offered to guide him, and we exchanged numbers in case he needed further assistance. The following day, I received a call from him. He shared that he had been stuck for over an hour due to a poorly placed traffic light, complicating his ability to interpret the signals. His colour blindness, an invisible disability, posed challenges that most people would overlook. This experience left a profound impression on me. Colour blindness is often overlooked, yet it affects a significant portion of the population, especially men in India, where about 8% of men and 0.4% of women are estimated to be colourblind. The Importance of Inclusivity in Coaching As coaches, particularly when creating content or designing infographics, we must be mindful of our communication methods. The more inclusive we are, the better we can support diverse clients, ensuring that everyone feels understood, and while we create safe and welcoming environments. Relying solely on colour to convey critical information can unintentionally alienate or confuse individuals with colour vision deficiencies. We may never fully know who our audience will include or exclude, so we must understand their diverse needs. By integrating minor adjustments—such as patterns, textures, clear labels, and colours—we can ensure our messages are accessible to a broader audience. Awareness and inclusivity should be at the core of our one-on-one interactions and content creation. Due to a lack of knowledge, we often overlook many invisible disabilities. Therefore, I write this article to raise awareness within our coaching community and inspire a cautious curiosity about our surroundings. Some examples of Invisible Disabilities Here are a few examples of invisible disabilities we should be aware of: Autism Low vision Deafness Speech impairments Mental health challenges Chronic pain Learning disabilities Food allergies or intolerances Arthritis My Reflection As coaches, it is crucial to recognise and be attentive to invisible disabilities. We never know the struggles that someone may be facing—be it colour blindness or another invisible condition. When we engage with clients in coaching or mentoring sessions, we must consider their specific needs. Questions to ponder include: What are your preferred methods of interaction? Who constitutes my audience? How can I foster inclusivity in my content? How can I reduce discrimination while creating materials? If my content is predominantly video-based, am I being mindful? Am I genuinely serving my clients’ needs? Prioritising inclusivity and awareness ensures that we communicate effectively and supportively with all individuals, regardless of their challenges. Stay tuned to my upcoming blogs to learn more about enhancing your awareness of invisible disabilities and how to adapt your daily practices for a more inclusive approach. You wouldn’t want to miss my next one featuring my personal experience with situational disability, promising enriching insights for you to create a more accommodating and empathetic practice.
- Top Reasons to Pursue ICF Certification for Professional Coaching Excellence
Professional Coaching is quickly gaining the right amount of traction, just as it deserves. Consequently, the coaching industry is growing leading to an increasing need for professional coaching standards and excellence. More and more people are aware of Coaching now and are seeking trustworthy Coaches to support and guide them through their challenges and goals. To meet these expectations with the credibility it demands, the need to pursue ICF certification is apparent. The ICF has set the benchmark for coaching through 3 levels of certifications (ACC, PCC, MCC) that enhance the quality and integrity of coaching on an international level. Not just that, being certified with the ICF can be a game changer. In addition to adding professional credibility and enhanced rapport, it can transform your approach to coaching. Let’s throw some light on the top reasons that make it essential to pursue the ICF Certification : Understanding True Coaching Many professionals, especially those from corporate backgrounds or those who have experience in alternative disciplines, may believe they are already “coaching”. However, what they’re often practising is mentoring, consulting, or training. Owing to their expertise coming from their professional backgrounds and or certain subject matter knowledge, they may be wearing the typical hat of a consultant and giving “solutions”, knowingly or unknowingly. But fundamentally Coaching is different from these practices. Coaching is not – mentors providing advice based on experience, consultants offering solutions drawn from research and expertise, or trainers teaching specific skills. Coaching in its purest form, is a partnership in which the coach facilitates the self-discovery and growth of the client. Without proper coach training, professionals might mislabel their consulting or mentoring services and practices as coaching. ICF certification helps distinguish genuine coaching from these other disciplines, ensuring coaches adhere to a process. Professional Credibility, Ethical Standards, and Client Trust Earning an ICF credential adds to your professional credibility as a coach, because you commit to professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity. It indicates that you have undergone proper rigorous training, and mentoring and logged the necessary coaching hours as mandated by the ICF’s worldwide standard. ICF also bounds coaches by a Code of Ethics to ensure that they maintain the highest standards in coaching practice. Clients and organisations are highly likely to seek ICF-certified coaches. From their pov, going for an ICF-certified coach for their needs is reassuring that the coaching process would be professional and supportive, putting their needs first. They know they’re working with someone who adheres to ethical guidelines, maintains confidentiality, and follows globally recognised best practices. This trust forms the foundation of a successful coaching relationship. Structured Learning and Continuous Development ICF Coach Certification is not merely a certificate – it’s an ongoing learning process that pushes you to keep evolving into a better coach. The journey begins with formal coach training through an ICF-accredited programme, where you learn core coaching competencies. This includes building coaching relationships, facilitating client awareness, and co-creating actionable strategies with clients. The learning continues with mentoring, where experienced coaches guide you through practice sessions. This feedback loop allows you to refine your approach, improve your skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the coaching process. Additionally, the training often involves real-life client sessions and numerous assignments that push you to apply theoretical knowledge in practical contexts. Credentialled coaches must renew their credentials every three years, which requires ongoing professional development and continued learning, ensuring that you are always evolving as a coach. Coaching as a Preventive Intervention Coaching, like yoga or pranayama, is a powerful preventive practice. When leveraged before a problem manifests, it helps clients proactively navigate personal and professional growth. The ICF’s approach to coaching combines science with creativity, allowing coaches to address complexities in human behaviour and surrounding environments. Global Recognition and Networking Opportunities The ICF is a globally recognised body, offering an international standard for coaching that transcends borders. This global recognition opens doors to coaching opportunities around the world. Whether you’re working with clients from different cultures, industries, or geographic regions, being ICF-certified assures them that you have undergone internationally standardised training. Moreover, ICF connects you with a vast network of professional coaches, mentors, and thought leaders. This global community offers opportunities for collaboration, networking, and professional development. As a member of the ICF community, you gain access to forums, workshops, and conferences where you can exchange ideas, learn new skills, and stay updated on the latest trends in coaching. Contribution to a Larger Purpose ICF is not only a certification body but it is an organisation committed to advancing the science and practice of coaching. It aligns its work with larger global goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It also promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in coaching, ensuring that its practices are socially responsible and relevant in today’s world. By becoming an ICF-certified coach, you are not just enhancing your personal career, but you are also contributing to a larger movement aimed at making coaching a force for good in the world. The ICF community is focussed on creating a positive impact on individuals, organisations, and society as a whole. Conclusion Pursuing ICF Coach certification is a significant step toward professional coaching excellence. It provides you with the tools, training, and ethical framework necessary to practice true coaching, distinct from other advisory roles. With the global recognition of ICF credentials, structured learning pathways, and a commitment to continuous improvement, you will be well-equipped to make a lasting impact on your clients’ personal and professional growth. Whether you’re an aspiring coach or an experienced professional looking to enhance your coaching practice, an ICF credential sets you apart in an increasingly competitive market. Ultimately, it helps you serve your clients better, elevating both your career and the coaching profession as a whole. - How ICF Coaching Can Transform Leadership Skills in the Workplace
How ICF Coaching with Regal Unlimited Can Transform Leadership Skills in the Workplace One of our learner coaches came from a humble background, starting his career as an entry-level techie. He was to make a transition from an individual contributor to a manager in an IT global brand when he chose to begin his coach certification journey with us through Regal Coach Certification , our foundation-level programme for emerging leaders like him. Seeing the immediate impact of coaching on his leadership, his boss encouraged him to take it further as it would help him lead better. Working with an experienced executive leadership coach can help a leader develop that muscle to tap into their intuition. 7. Adaptability Coaching equips leaders to embrace change, remain agile, and guide their teams through uncertainty with confidence. The most important task of a leader is to create more leaders. But often forgotten. 9. Improved productivity Balancing competing priorities is a constant challenge for executives. Leadership coaching provides strategies to optimise time management, and manage energy effectively, ensuring leaders focus on high-impact activities while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. 10. - Mastering Leadership with 10 Essential Skills for CXOs Through Coaching
In this fast-paced era of AI and a highly competitive corporate landscape, leading with excellence is not just a goal – but a mandate. Adding Coaching to your Executive Leadership Style offers a transformative opportunity for CXO-level leaders to sharpen their axes, manoeuvre complex challenges, and leave behind a leadership legacy worth remembering. The skills cultivated through coaching go beyond the boardroom to redefine leadership itself. 1. Elevating your Leadership Impact: Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Leadership starts with understanding people – including yourself. In fact, . Coaching helps you fine-tune your ability to read the room. Interpret unspoken cues, and manage emotions in the light of most uncomfortable solutions. High EQ doesn’t just drive cultural alignment, it lays the foundation of trust and empathy – traits your team will remember (for good) long after you have moved on. 2. Seeing Beyond the Horizon: Strategic Thinking Visionary leaders know how to anticipate and coaching helps you work on your foresight. This will allow you to analyse sharply the market shifts so you can ace your ride instead of being swept away by the wave. This is not just strategic thinking but also the art of creating a roadmap others can follow even when you are not in the driver’s seat. 3. Inspiring Action Through Words: Effective Communication We have heard it so many times – Walk the Talk!!, but you can only walk when you know how to talk. And when leaders talk – the room perks up. Coaching helps you to refine your thoughts which you can share with your audience using your storytelling skills. Your story that speaks about your vision, aligns cross-functional teams ditching a 50-slide deck and inspires action with a single well-chosen WORD. And the result is a standing ovation when you have done your part of the talk!! 4. The Art of Resolute Leadership: Decision-Making Under Pressure Not every decision is easy, nor we can have a backup plan for every decision we take. Some decisions have huge financial impact. In fact, as a leader, most of our decisions are taken under pressure. Executive Coaching equips you with the ability to process complex data, weigh risks, and make confident calls – even when the stakes are super high and the Board Clock is ticking. When you lead with clarity and decisiveness you set a precedent that echoes through your organisation. 5. Turning Tensions into Opportunities: Conflict Resolution Conflicts are inevitable but they are also your bundle of opportunities to display your skills. Coaching empowers you with tools to navigate workplace tensions with grace, turning disagreements into opportunities for growth and innovation. Who does not want to be remembered as a Leader who would transform heated rooms into breakthrough dialogues – and for keeping their cool all the way long !! 6. Leading through Transformation: Adaptability & Resilience Coaching is a powerful tool that can enable a leader to steer the ship through the storm with confidence while the others are still panicking. Coaching helps you embrace uncertainty and model resilience – because when the leader is resilient the team follows with grace. 7. Building High-Performance Ecosystems: Delegation & Empowerment Reality Check – If you are still holding on to the mantra “If I want something done right, I will do it myself” – it is time for Coaching. Delegation is about empowering your team and not about handing off tasks. When you delegate effectively, you are not just lightening your load so you can focus on other strategic goals – but also building future leaders and creating a culture of accountability. Legacy secured!! 8. Commanding the Boardroom: Executive Presence Your presence is felt, not just by people who are interacting with you – but also by people who exist in that room. Your deep presence is also felt by the people when you leave the room. Coaching helps you to refine your ability to own the room (even when you are on Teams or Zoom). This is the skill that ensures your leadership story is told long after you have exited the stage. 9. Orchestrating Synergy: Team Building and Collaboration Your team is like an Orchestra: the real magic happens when everyone comes together with their unique skills and when you as a leader have done the the Skill-Will mapping thoughtfully. When done right, you will be the symphony of collaboration that drives results. Coaching helps you to bring out the best in every ‘musician’ so the team can play the same tune collectively. 10. Driving Impact at Scale: Goal Setting & Accountability Coaching teaches you to set ambitious yet achievable objectives, aligning them with organisational vision while keeping the team on track. Bold Goals inspire bold actions. Leaders who master this skill do not just hit targets – they create a culture of excellence that continues long after their tenure. By mastering these 10 skills through executive leadership coaching , CXO-level leaders do not just drive results – they build a legacy of resilience, innovation, and inspiration that echoes far into th e future. And then probably one day, YOU will be the one people toast to at Company Reunions !! Gentle Reminder – Your Legacy is How you make them feel It was never about what was achieved together & the perks that followed What will they say when you are gone? Leadership is the Legacy of how you cared And once you realise this … There is something within you that will shift for good, for forever !!
- Arjuna’s Hero’s Journey
The road to leadership is no ordinary path. It’s a bumpy ride with peculiar ups and downs. During this journey, every leader ought to come across moments of hesitation or thoughts that hold them back. They are faced with challenges, uncertainty and crowded judgement before they rise . The ancient wisdom of Bhagavad Gita offers timeless leadership lessons. Arjuna—one of the greatest warriors of his time—stands on the battlefield of Kurukshetra . But as he looks at the opposing army, he sees familiar faces—his teachers, his family, his loved ones— leaving him in a dilemma, whether to fight or not ! Overwhelmed, he drops his bow, frozen by doubt and despair. Was he ready to destroy everything he held dear? “How can I fight this battle? What if I fail? Is this the right path?” In his moment of crisis, Arjuna turns to Krishna, his charioteer, for clarity. Krishna challenges Arjuna’s perspective, guiding him to see beyond his fear and embrace his true purpose. Arjuna picks up his bow again —not because his circumstances change, but because his mindset does . He steps forward as a warrior and leader, ready to fulfil his purpose. This marks Arjuna’s Hero’s Journey, beginning with a moment of crisis where he questions his next step. As per Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero’s Journey , every transformational journey follows three key stages: 🔹 Departure – The hero steps out of the familiar, outside of his comfort zone, often faced with a challenge or inner conflict. 🔹 Initiation – They meet mentors, go through trials, and embrace lessons that shift their perspective. 🔹 Return – Armed with newfound wisdom, they embrace their purpose with clarity and strength. This journey is never linear. Each stage presents hardships that test the hero’s resolve, trying to break them. All they must do is move forward and overcome the moments of self-doubt, external resistance, and make choices that demand courage. They meet guides or mentors on their way, expectedly or unexpectedly, and embrace victories which are not just external but marked by an internal shift in identity or mindset. Leadership mirrors this path. The battlefield may not always be literal, but the internal struggle is real. A leader’s departure begins when they step into a role that demands more of them. Their initiation is shaped by experiences that challenge their beliefs and mentors who push them toward growth. And their return is marked not by power alone, but by the experiences, wisdom and clarity they gain to lead with conviction and rise high. Every great leader must step beyond their comfort zone, embrace the journey, learn along the way, and emerge transformed. Arjuna’s Kurukshetra moment is a classic example of this journey. His Departure begins the moment he steps onto the battlefield, called to fulfil his duty but paralysed with doubt. His Initiation unfolds as Krishna guides him toward clarity. Finally, his Return happens when he rises—not as a hesitant warrior, but as a resolute leader, embracing his role with newfound conviction. Seeking a perspective shift to move forward and gain clarity? Leadership demands tough choices. And real growth happens when we move beyond fear to purpose. But even the strongest heroes don’t walk the path alone. Sometimes, all it takes is a guide—a mentor, a coach, or a powerful conversation—to help you see what’s already within you. Who is your Krishna? And what’s the battle you are preparing to face?
- Empowering Leadership Through Resilient & Strategic Leadership Coaching
Subash CV is a Master Certified Coach (ICF), a certified mentor coach (MCCP), a certified healer, and the founder of Regal Unlimited. With over 25 years of corporate experience, including leadership and executive roles, Subash discovered his passion and purpose in professional coaching. His impressive client portfolio showcases his expertise as an executive coach, with organizations such as GSK, GreyMatters Capital, INSEAD, Ford, Adobe, Flipkart, Etek, Novo Nordisk, TCS, and several others. In a recent interaction with M R Yuvatha, Senior Correspondent at siliconindia, Subash CV shared his insights on ‘Unlocking Leadership Potential Through Coaching Excellence’ . In this evolving landscape, coaching emerges as a powerful tool. The traditional command-and-control leadership style is fading, replaced by a paradigm of partnership where leaders and teams collaborate as equals. This shift encourages shared ownership, collective achievement, and a focus on nurturing potential rather than just driving performance. For Gen Z and millennials, this leadership approach is not optional but expected they seek empowerment, growth, and active participation in shaping solutions. Leaders who adopt this coaching mindset of partnership, co-creation, and potential will be better equipped to navigate ongoing disruptions and inspire the next generation of talent. The Power of Teamwork in Building Lasting Legacies Today, everyone watching or tracking India’s campaign at the Champions Trophy Cricket has likely heard multiple people speak about team effort, often referencing the concept of ‘I to We’. Whether in corporate settings, business environments, or cricket, the focus on ‘I to We’ is undeniable. The exceptional capabilities of superstars like Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli can only carry the team to a certain level. Yet, winning most matches reportedly 23 out of 24 in one-day games, aside from the Champions Trophy highlights the power of collective effort. Their success reflects unified teamwork, with people now explicitly acknowledging that even standout players like Kohli or Sharma must contribute in ways that benefit the team as a whole. The key lies in shifting the mindset from ‘I to me to mine’ to ‘We’ representing the team, company, or industry. This shift in mindset is equally relevant beyond sports. An influential leader, Deepak Parekh of HDFC Group , once remarked that there’s no such thing as an enduring legacy, despite building world-class institutions across banking, insurance, and securities. Yet, his contributions shaped the industry. If legacies are fleeting, what creates lasting impact? In a fast-paced world where leaders chase short-term targets, a coaching approach can shift the focus to potential. When leaders unlock potential, performance naturally follows. This potential-first mindset is what builds lasting legacies. Just as figures like Dhirubhai Ambani or Ratan Tata are remembered for their contributions, future generations may honor leaders who embraced IQ (Intelligence Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), and SQ (Spiritual Quotient) building organizations and industries with enduring impact. IQ gets us a job. EQ gets us growth. But it is the fulfillment that we deeply aspire for. And it comes from connecting with ‘purpose’, which is nothing but the spiritual quotient (SQ) or love quotient (LQ). Coaching helps you traverse to the ‘fulfillment’ phase and stay there. The Complete Spectrum of Leadership In training workshops and coaching sessions, the question often arises: if L E A D E R were an acronym, what would each letter represent? Interestingly, the process begins in reverse from R to L. R stands for result oriented, emphasizing that leader is ultimately judged by the results they deliver. E follows, representing excellence, while A stands for action, underscoring the need for leaders to be proactive. D stands for discipline, a critical yet often overlooked trait. Together, results-orientation, excellence, discipline, action, and create a powerful foundation for leadership. The life of Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the perfect example of this by concentrating on the process instead of getting fixated on outcomes, Dhoni created a legacy of success and resilience. This process mindset, with results being the end in view, makes leaders and their teams capable of riding through any adversity, building a model for long-term growth and influence. The final two letters, L and E, symbolize love quotient and empathy. True leadership transcends quarterly targets and performance metrics it involves selflessness and sacrifice. As the scriptures state, ‘Only based on sacrifice can one create an enduring legacy’ (Tyagenaike Amrutatva Manushu) . Leaders like Ratan Tata are the examples of this spirit, leading with love and prioritizing the common good rather than self-interest. Whereas selfish leadership could have been effective in the past, a changing world consciousness requires something new. Global events such as geopolitical instability and changing political climes are indicators of a shift in collective consciousness. In this changing world, leaders who adopt empathy and love will build lasting legacies, not only successful organizations, but also a better, interconnected society. The Unspoken Truth about Leadership In today’s fast-paced business world, leaders often neglect self-care, struggling with basics like sleep and hydration while constantly reacting to crises. This chaotic cycle highlights the need for better planning. “IQ gets us a job. EQ gets us growth. But it is the fulfillment that we deeply aspire for. And it comes from connecting with ‘purpose’, which is nothing but the spiritual quotient (SQ) or love quotient (LQ). Coaching helps you traverse to the ‘fulfillment’ phase and stay there”, states Subash CV . This journey towards resilience is best visualized as a golden triangle: authenticity, vulnerability, and resilience . Authenticity is crucial, as modern teams quickly sense insincerity. When leaders embrace vulnerability as Brene Brown advocates and shed their masks, they build endurance against setbacks. Without resilience, even leaders at global giants like Nike or Unilever struggle to maintain long-term success. Coaching can be a catalyst for this transformation, providing a safe space to identify and address blind spots that grow with rapid career progression. As Marshall Goldsmith aptly notes, ‘What Got You Here Won’t Get You There’ . Sustainable leadership demands balance across physical health, mental agility, emotional stability, creativity, and spiritual growth. Beyond polished presentations and sharp emails, leaders must become master storytellers, inspiring teams with authenticity and vision. Every step taken in this space strengthens the muscles of authenticity, vulnerability, and resilience, reinforcing that leadership is a lifelong journey of learning and humility always in service of society. In business leadership, emotions have long been seen as a liability, but humans are inherently emotional beings. Denying emotions at work stifles creativity, innovation, and authenticity. Dr. Daniel Goleman’s six emotional leadership styles from authoritative to coaching highlight the importance of emotional intelligence. The key lies in balancing these styles with empathy and self-awareness. For example, authoritative leadership can be powerful when rooted in the team’s well-being rather than personal ego. Even passionate debates, when driven by a shared desire to improve, can strengthen psychological safety if teams understand the intent. Despite growing conversations around psychological safety, many organizations struggle to truly embed it in their culture. Empathy often becomes performative, leaving teams feeling unsupported. True psychological safety emerges when leaders consistently model it. Summing It Up! Leadership is not just about titles or past achievements; it’s about continuous growth and enabling others to thrive. Leaders often face the fear of failure when transitioning into senior roles, clinging to past successes. This is their hero’s journey a concept popularized by Joseph Campbell where moving forward requires letting go of old laurels and embracing future potential. Coaches help leaders cultivate a ‘detached attachment’ to past wins, reminding them that leadership is about the next challenge, not the last victory. True leadership lies in creating sustainable systems, where even if someone else takes over, the vision carries on like a relay race. As a former American president once said, ‘A leader’s actions should help others learn, grow, and become more’ . This reflection ‘Am I enabling others to become more?’ should guide leaders every day, as true leadership is not about status but the impact made on others.
